Could be.  Claude Lebrun sold tyres in the mid-1980s in a shop near the
cathedral in PauP, on a street going towards the bay.  His bright ad on
local TV, showing a cartoon guy holding a tyre above his head like a halo,
caught people's imagination.   When the practice of necklacing was imported
(through the media) from South Africa soon afterwards, people linked it
with the ad and nicknamed it "Pè Lebrun."  Not such a nice way for a
probably regular guy sans histoires to be remembered...
