PARIS, Dec 17 (Xinhua) -- France condemned the military coup attempt that
took place earlier on Monday against Haiti's President Jean-Bertrand
Aristide.
   "France demands all Haitians to show the greatest restraint to avoid
blood shedding," said the French Foreign Ministry in a statement issued on
Monday evening.
   "The security of all people should be ensured in Haiti ... France calls
on the Haitian authorities to shoulder the responsibilities to protect
people and properties," it added.
