[FOLKS, THIS NOTE IS NOT FROM A LIST MEMBER, SO PLEASE WRITE DIRECTLY TO
THEM AND NOT BACK TO ME.]
Any chance you know someone who could rather quickly write a 1,000
word essay on Danticat's novel for a book in progress (under contract and due
soon) entitled Women in Literature: Evaluating FIciton for Gender Bias? We
are desperate to include an essay about BEM in our book and have just learned
that the one we expected won't be coming in... Perhaps you can help?
The essay should be directed to high school and college teachers and
students who will be interested in analzying the text from a feminist
perspective. Essays have teaching suggestions in them, strategies for
heightening students' awareness of gender issues, and are written
jargon-free.
We hope to hear from you soon.
SIncerely,
Jerilyn Fisher and Ellen Silber, co-editors
