The chicken & the egg . . . having raised chickens, I can tell you that one
often gets chickens from eggs-that is, find a farmer with fertilized eggs
(basically any chicken farmer who has a rooster running free), and hatch
them, in the absence of willing hens,  with a light box. Many school
classrooms do this as a project-it's not hard!
