TEMPORARY HOUSING IN VIENNA, AUSTRIA
I just building this site. It will take a
while. I don't want to recommend places personally which I haven't seen or have
excellent reason to know what you can expect.
- PLACES I CAN PERSONALLY COMMENT ON
- K & T Boardinghouse
Prices begin at 500 S for a simple single.
700 S for a double with shower and toilet in room
Triples and Quads are 900 S and 1200 S respectively.
Very clean and bright, cheery rooms. Well situated to public
transport and on a busy shopping street. The boardinghouse is
a third floor walk up without elevator, and is over the top of a
sex shop, but the shop is quite discrete and not at all noisy.
Friends of mine stayed there in 2001 and were extremely pleased, thinking
it one of the better places their stayed on a fairly extensive European trip.
They recommend it without reservation.
- Hotel Marc Aurel and Restaurant
While I can't yet recommend the hotel since I've not been it, I can say that the connected restaurant
which features Persian food is my very favorite restaurant I've ever been to in Vienna. I know
the restaurant people and hotel people are closely connected and soon I will ask to see a room
and get a tour of the hotel.

- TURMHERBERGE DON BOSCO Lechnerstrasse 12 (tel 713 14 94) near the
U3 Kardinal-Nagl-Platz stop. Called "the cheapest beds in town."
Sort of sounds like this is only for those really not wanting to pay much for a bed. Separate
quarter by sex, 11:45 PM curfew, open March through November.
