He is co-chair of the International Studies Committee, and project director of The Global Forum, a format for worldwide webcast and chat/dialogue participation in presentations, conferences, and summit meetings.

Roy Tamashiro (chair, INMP Conference Program Committee) is Professor in the Multidisciplinary Studies Department at Webster University (St. Louis, Missouri USA). His many projects and publications include: the educational role of peace museums; peace pilgrimages; the oral history of A-bomb and war survivor-witnesses; planetary consciousness; and the psychology of social healing and reconciliation.

Sverdrup Liv Astrid https://timeline.inmp.net/sverdrup-liv-astrid/ Fri, 07 Apr 2017 07:43:24 +0000 https://timeline.inmp.net/?p=1510 Liv Astrid Sverdrup (MA) is Director of Exhibitions and Deputy Director of the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, Norway, which honours the Nobel Peace Prize laureates (opened in 2005). Sverdrup has been responsible for more than 60 exhibitions in Oslo and worldwide.

Formerly a Senior Advisor in the Norwegian Ministry of Defence, Liv Astrid has also been a researcher, editor and publisher  of both professional and popular articles on issues related to climate change, sustainable development and the EU’s environmental policy and  was a member of the Norwegian Government’s Advisory Council on Disarmament and Non-proliferation.

Somjee Sultan https://timeline.inmp.net/somjee-sultan/ Fri, 07 Apr 2017 07:41:52 +0000 https://timeline.inmp.net/?p=1508 Sultan Somjee is an ethnographer who founded the peace museums in Kenya and worked on African indigenous values, material culture and training of community based curators of the peace museums. He was the Head of Ethnography at the National Museums of Kenya from 1994 to 2000 and has published widely, including four books. Somjee also curated several community participatory exhibitions generating dialogues among ethnicities in conflict.

The United Nations named Somjee one of the twelve global “Unsung Heroes of Dialogue Among Civilizations” in recognition of his work to facilitate dialogue through museums of peace in regions of ethnic conflicts. In 2002, Somjee was appointed on the Global Advisory Board of Human Dignity and Humiliation Studies.

Sultan first came in contact with INMP during  the 3rd International Conference of Museums of Peace in Kyoto, Japan

Rank Carol https://timeline.inmp.net/rank-carol/ Fri, 07 Apr 2017 07:38:10 +0000 https://timeline.inmp.net/?p=1501 Dr Carol Rank recently retired as Senior Lecturer in Peace and Conflict Studies at the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations (CTPSR) at Coventry University in the UK and in now Honorary Research Fellow with CTPSR. She has been teaching Peace Studies since the early 1980s, mainly in the U.S. and Europe, and she also has extensive experience in peace education at the community level in the UK.

She was the first Project Officer for the Peace Museum in Bradford, UK (1994 – 1999) and later joined its board of directors after having left Bradford to take up her teaching post at Coventry University in 2000. She joined the board of directors of the International Network of Museums for Peace at the 2005 international conference of peace museums hosted by the Gernika peace museum and is now a member of the Advisory Committee of INMP.
