With the transition from the Don (Eastern) Han Dynasty to the Three Kingdom period (circa 220 A.D.), the Chinese population fell from 50 million to only 7 million.
As the Sui Dynasty passed to the Tang Dynasty (618 A.D.) the population again fell from 50 million to less than 20 million.
