An experiement in e-history, a modern cousin of oral history

On October 25, 1999 I sent the first note of the Dogtown e-mail list to 9 people, inviting and opening discussion. It has grown and now there are approaching 100 people (June 3, 2001). I have saved most of the messages posted to the dicussion list and have since the beginning planned to eventually mount them as piece of e-history, a written form of oral history made possible by internet technology. Toys, games, pranks and such in Dogtown's past. As is often the case in 2001, Bill Vorbeck opened most of these discussions along the way.

Dogtown in the 1920s and early 1930s. Sister Thomas More Duggan, class of 1931 had been a list member for a while when she began a series of four essays to give us younger folks a sense of Dogtown and St. James in the 1920s. She was soon joined by her Elder, Kitty O'Shaughnessy Krall, class of 1926. The two of them carried on a marvelous exchange for weeks, and this discussion is organized here by topic.
