"Got to digging through my notes and found some references to "Thomas". Lo
and Behold, found the Thomas family in 1860,70,& 80 census. William O. Thomas
was the head of the family with a home on Manchester between Sublette and
Macklind. Also found it on the Cheltenham Map. In the 1880 census William O.
was listed as a merchant, evidently at his home. A son, Phillip was a newspaper
man. The 1870 census shows a John at 27 and a coal miner from Wales. Also a John
at 28 and a fire clay digger. This could be the J.M.Thomas, Founder of
"Highlands Fire Clay Company."

There is also a useful newspaper article from 1966 which sheds lots of light on the THomas family. See:
