There are some connections between Harry Belafonte and Haiti:

o His grandmother (the mother of his mother) was a haitian.
o His wife Julie was one of the dancers of the famous haitian dancegroup of 
Kathrine Dunham
o Harry sang a lot of haitian songs: Haiti chérie, Yellow bird, Mercy bon dié 
etc.
