I had heard in 1996 that a road was being planned to go from
Petionville/Freres, more or less, through the Tabarre area, to the
airport,
completely bypassing Port-au-Prince... The intention indeed seemed to be
to cut
off the entire lower part of the capital and make it more convenient for
moneyed people to get in and out of their homes in the heights. Was that
just a
rumor or was there any substance to it? nlaleau
