It is a big problem that all of you know about, judging by your discussion. The superiority complexe of the elite group takes away from its humanity, its capacity toward compassion for its fellow countrymen, its patriotism translates into self serving movements to safeguard its position, rejecting of anyone or anything that threatens its comfort level.  I am reading the mails and found myself thinking that Haiti really has a distorded view of what elitism consist of.  From my own understanding, elistism exists among professionals, academics, social, political divisions where there exist groups and subgroups that form hierarchy based on levels of preparations and sometimes functions. From this divisions, the individuals who contribute the most toward the elevation or development in their particualar domains are considered the elite of their professions, academics, social or political groups. I have yet to see the contribution made by any of the "elite" of Haiti since I have been of age of reason.  It is very sad but indeed a true observation. At least it is my perceived truth. I believe this debate should be happening, we indeed should talk about this problem to reach enlightment and understanding. Not talking about it will not make it go away. Acknowledging a problem is the first step toward recovery. Well, i am still hopeful.
