13243: Arthur asks about civil society representative (fwd)
From: Tttnhm@aol.com
The Global Market Solutions press release entitled "Compensation Paid to
December 17 Victims in Haiti", dated September 18, contained the following
sentence:
"To date, a Consultative Council, composed of a representative from the OAS,
a representative from the Haitian Government and a representative from civil
society, has reviewed more than 70 requests for reparations, and in the days
since the report was released the Government of Haiti has already paid
several victims."
Perhaps someone in the know would be good enough to let us in on answers to
the following questions:
Who is the representative from civil society?
How was that representative selected?
What does the Government of Haiti understand by the term 'civil society'?
