No, I don't think so.  Africans in Haiti got the *words* "loup garou" from the French, but the West African folklore about people flying at night, taking off their skins or turning into birds, was exported to Jamaica, Trinidad, and some parts of the Southern United States as well.  The lougarou of Haiti is not the werewolf of Europe!  (So forget about those silver bullets, they won't help.)
