The Haitian language "CREOLE" came into existence with the arrival of the
Africans and the Europeans into Hispanola, then Santo Domingo, now Haiti
during the period of XVI and XIX centuries. Thus, the creolization of the
verb "GEN" , as you write it in the proverb:"DEYE MON GEN MON", derived from
the French word: "GAGNER", the English word: "GAIN" and the Spanish word:
"GANAR."
For the origin of the proverb itself, it is an African's wisdom…
King Salomon and Queen Sheba were well known for sharing riddles…
