The author, doctor D. Juan Blázquez Miguel is a well-known specialist in
anthropological and religious themes through his works: “Inquisición y
criptojudiasmo”, “Toledot”, “Eros y Tanatos”...
In this book, “Vodu y zonbi”, religion voodoo is deeply studied, with a
great scientist precision.  Around voodoo everything moves, from politics to
economy, but also other macabre subjects such as pacts with their gods or
the terrific secret sects.
“Vodu y Zonbi” is a book where it is studied, from an anthropological point
of view, the differents sides of haitian life: from birth to death, from
rituals such as “steal of soul” to ceremonies in cemeteries; from mystic
marriages to ritual cannibalism.  All this are believed by, and their power
is supported, main politicians and military men since the birth of Haiti as
nation to present day.
To write this book, the author was living in Haiti  for five years, studying
haitian culture and the way of life of haitian people, making an exhaustive
research, reading almost all the bibliography, about 500 publications, being
completed with a large number of personal works among haitian society, where
author was deeply integrated.
