Even if there were not, simply believing that such a poison existed, and
having an enemy, and suspecting that the enemy "poisoned" you, could, by
the power of suggestion, bring about mental derangement. In many
countries, the US included, people suffering from paranoid schizophrenia
often believe they have been poisoned and attribute their derangement to
that "poison."

PS--if there is an antidote for the insanity-provoking poison, let me
know... there's be quite a market for it.
