184 institutions, in addition to others, the least of may be the makouts in regards to those institution’s approval of the Convergence's demand and task and the latter powerful foreign alliance with IRI, an arm of the present Republican party in power in United States, controlling Haiti both directly and indirectly! What could or would they achieve, even independently from the government they want to overthrow, to develop the country and rally at least some of President Aristide’s popularity? Should the only program of those institutions, and their parallel government be President Aristide’s overthrowing? To be replaced by whom? The people have the right to know. Will it be by Prof. Gourgues or the ancient President-for-Life who lately revealed its intention to reintegrate his duty as president, while some of the opposition people voiced their distances from such agenda, although in a non-convincing way?
Coming back to the so-called 184 institutions, as a bunch of NGOs, I guess, why don’t or can’t they plan a massively integrated project of development that would include schooling, roads building, public transportation, health, training, industrialization, why not agrarian reform, market development, communication, all ingredients to better life in Haiti, and insist that they get the $500.000 being “kidnapped” elsewhere by their allies to finance such a plan? It's right there an extraordinary opportunity for them to prove that their plan is not empty. That they also can prioritize the country's interest over their own ones. That will be an opportunity to prove their ability to work with their opponents for the best of their beloved country, should I guess, because for check and balance purposes, and out of respect for image projection, they would have to admit the witnessing of the same government they can think but its overthrowing in spite of massive support from the people who don’t have a name? By the way, I personally think that the government should find a way to do the same when it comes to some specific projects of public interests.
What is at stake over all? Fighting over power, at times illusive, overthrowing the government, or, if not attainable, negotiating its efficiency that should result in more GNP, less debt, and higher standard of living?
Speaking of standard, the one by which 184 institutions must be assessed and judged is not their ability to sign declarations, and overthrow a government supported by the majority of the needy people, but their focus and capacity to achieve positive results that make a difference in people’s life. Otherwise, there is no need for them let alone their gloating; above all, when their numbers are yet to reassure them to win an election that includes the same President they want to overthrow.
