15178: Acessrachael: Haitian Psychology (fwd)

From: acessrachael@tstt.net.tt

Thank you to all for your response to my question.

I agree that in reality there may not be a haitian psychology per se.
This is the general dilemma.

>From general observation,it appears that that these watch words - liberty or
death and unity in strength though they hold a potent force to initate,
encourage, and promote stability, and progression in Haitian society, in
another sense it cannot.

Perhaps if we can pinpoint the basic tenets of the haitian psychology - and how
it affects Haitians and Haiti, then we may set ourselves on the road towards
the re-generation of haiti.

Haitians indeed according to Gary Pierre-Pierre are fiercly independent, and
would rather live poor with freedom, than with restraints.

Leaning towards the thinking as stated by Lourdes Lafleur
<lourdeslafleur@videotron.ca> that this so called "Haitian Psychology"....
these distinctive traits have made us weaker."

We can use these negatives to initate positivity.

I believe that there is a search in Haiti and amongst haitians in general for a
better Haiti. How we are to achieve this is the dilemma!

Through democracy?
Democracy as defined by whom?
How do Haitians view democracy? What do they expect of it? Something textual i
beleive - more food, jobs clothing, better roads....

What is the Haitian psychology (is there such a thing?)
What are the underlying tenets of this psychology?
How does this psychology influence Haitian life - beit in the area of
politics,
economics or social
life.?
