15406: Mason: Re: 15387: Bellegarde-Smith: Ashcroft ruling (fwd)

From: MariLinc@aol.com

Bellegarde-Smith posted an article by Suzanne Gamboa of the AP, with this
quote:

"Most illegal immigrants can be jailed indefinitely without bond when
national security risks exist, Attorney General John Ashcroft has declared in
a legal opinion. Immigration advocates are calling that an abuse of power in
the name of fighting terrorism."

My question:

What's new? Is this not just a new rationale and cover for old, very ugly,
and very illegal practices, when it comes to U.S. behavior toward Haitian
immigrants?

Ashcroft states it's now legal. Is it any more moral???

Just because the U.S. now has an Emperor-in-Chief?

I was pleased to see that Cheryl Little is still on the job in Miami!
