The short and safe way: take caribe tours or terrabus direct - one stop
at the border - 5+ hours - around 50 US + taxes

Medium: take small buses downtown PAP to downtown SD. Around 20/25 US +
taxes. border hassle. stops around 10 times at military check ups =-
maybe 7-8 hours

Roots: take a tap tap to malpasse, check haitian immigration, motor bike
to the dominican side, another bus to SD.  stops around 10 times at
military check ups =- also maybe 7-8 hours.

Port au prince - Jimani is 1 hour or less 30 min from croix des bouquets
Jimani - SD without check ups is 3.5 hours
Pedernales - SD an Elias Pina -SD more or less  same timing.

I'm  presently working in lakes border areas foret des pins fond

there was a nice general strike in Jimani last tuesday, town streets
were on fire - and military shooting, because of some arrests of small
rice and garlic smugglers by the military - traffic from Haiti was
interrupted. it happens.
