18029: Dailey: Boukman & Bois Caiman
From: Peter Dailey <phdailey@msn.com>
The question of the source for accounts of Bois Caiman was the subject of
a
series of interesting posts two or three years ago. To the best of my
recollection, the first written mention of the ceremony appeared in a
French
work about 1810. This led Leon Hoffmann to question whether the meeting at
Bois
Caiman ever occurred, a view vigorously disputed by Daniel Simidor and
Madison
Bell, among others.
