18322: Saint-Vil clarifies for Kaminsky RE: 18326 (fwd)

From: Jean Saint-Vil <jafrikayiti@hotmail.com>

Kaminsky, I think that you've misunderstood me. And after reading my post over,
I realise that it wasn't so clear.

You wrote:

"Least we forget the US and EU funding of the opposition in Haiti from the day
Aristide first declared for run for President.".

Absolutely true! In fact, this is why I included this Whashington post quote
which reminds us of the context in which the current mahem is happening.

« The most determined of these men, with a promise of anonymity, freely express
their desire to see the U.S. military intervene once again, this time to get
rid of Aristide and rebuild the disbanded Haitian army. "That would be the
cleanest solution," said one opposition party leader. Failing that, they say,
the CIA should train and equip Haitian officers exiled in the neighboring
Dominican Republic so they could stage a comeback themselves.» Haiti Torn by
Hope and Hatred As Aristide Returns to Power by Edward Cody (Washington Post,
February 2, 2001 – 5 days before Aristide was to swear in as President of
Haiti)

You responded to my assertion that "only in black-led nations are criminals
expected to be offered a share of political power by the duly elected
officials" with the following: "hmmm, has he checked out the US government
these days!!! And they are 99 44/100% pure white".

I don't dispute the fact that in the U.S. you likely have criminals who hold
office every now and then. You've known assassinations of presidents, civil
right leaders etc... However, the rotten folks come to power in your country
by the actions of Americans alone. In countries like Haiti or Cote d'Ivoire, it
is the former slave-holding nations (France, the U.S.A,...) sometimes working
in concert, which force upon the people the very things they have risked their
lives to reject. Imagine a Russian agency equivalent to International
Republican Institute going to the U.S. to help Charles Manson break out of jail
to lead a rebellion against a U.S. president? Difficult to imagine right? Yet,
in Haiti's case we learn without surprise how Raoul Cedras, Toto Constant,
Michel Francois, Guy Phillipe were (are?) all on the CIA's payroll as they
engaged in all kinds of massacres, coup d'etat etc...

I ask the question now: Who is this guy Jean Tatoune, who broke out of jail and
has been creating mahem in Gonaives ever since? Who is financing him ? Why has
the U.S. Embassy, the French, the Canadian embassy, the OAS.... NOT asked for
his arrest as they had once insisted on that of Amyot Métayer when the latter
was still considered a Lavalas militant?
