19076: loveayiti:(Same) New Poll: Haiti better under Duvalier (fwd)

Re: to recent Haitian-American Poll

Polls are a strange thing. Sometimes you have to look closely at what
information says or doesn’t say. First of all the poll was sponsored by NCM.
While NCM claims to be a nationwide association of over 700 ethnic media
organizations representing the development of a more inclusive journalism. The
organization would more accurately be called the LMA or Leftist Media
Association with what appears to little ties to the Haitian-American Community
in the United States. Why the San Francisco based organization would decide to
spend it’s money on a survey on a Haitian-American issue is a story which has
yet to be told. However, among it founders you will find the San Francisco Bay
View. A black newspaper which has been an advocate for Aristide. A frequent
writer for this San Francisco paper is Kevin Pina, an White-American leftist
who has lived in Haiti for three years and is known to be on Aristide’s
payroll, similar to Aristide’s American Spokesperson Michele Karshan and
lobbyist Ira Kurzban which have received, per the US Department of Justice, in
excess for $6,000,000 from the Haitian Government over the past 5 years
((http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/fara/) . How a black newspaper can ignore
“black on black” crime, journalist being killed and harassed or police beating
of student demonstrators is truly ironic. Nevertheless, what else did the poll
say which is being ignored by Aristide advocates in the US:<?xml:namespace

The majority of Haitian-Americans, who are US citizens, believe Aristide should
resign. (The voters)

The majority of Haitian-Americans who were able to do an interview in English
believe Aristide should resign. (Those who can watch CNN, read major US and
Int’l papers)

The majority of Haitians who had to interviewed in French and Creole felt he
should stay. (Those who are limited to getting their news from Haitian radio
and word of mouth. Many radio personalities in the US are either leftist,
strong Aristide advocates. Notwithstanding, the large sums the Haitian
government is now spending on its US Haitian media campaign).

When asked if Aristide should resign from office because he does not respect
Human Rights. More said he should resign (39% resign, 37% stay).

Of those supporting his resignation the majority supported peaceful
demonstrations as a means to promote change.

Only 12% felt the OAS (8%) or Caricom (4%) should have a primary role in
restoring security to Haiti.

The most interesting result was by a margin of 4 to 1, Haitian Americans felt
that Haiti was better off politically and economically under Duvalier than
under Aristide. (I don’t think they expected that one)

Like I said polls are a strange thing. Two months ago most polls had Howard
Dean as the Democratic nominee. Than he lost 17 primaries in a row because
someone forgot to ask voters whom they felt could beat Bush and was more
prepared to lead the United States. I wonder what question they forgot to ask
Haitian-Americans.

Did I forget to mention the Ira Kurzban (Aristide $6MM man) is also a primary
investor in radio Carnaval , Miami only 24 hour Haiti radio station. Everytime
Ira Kurzban sends a letter remember how much he's making per word... Is it
commitment or profit? The numbers speak for themselves...Public record -
Department of Justice....As additional (undeclared) information comes from
Haiti..it will be made available
