Haitian President Appeals for International Help

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) -- President Jean-Bertrand
Aristide appealed Tuesday for the world to come to
Haiti's aid, warning that thousands of deaths and a
wave of boat people could result from political chaos.

Western diplomats in Port-au-Prince confirmed Tuesday
that Aristide had asked France for military
intervention last week, when he publicly was asking
only for more international assistance to strengthen
his demoralized police force.

If the above is true, Aristide should add the title of
hypocrite extraordinaire to his resume. Does that
explain why the "restitution and reparation" songs we
have been hearing for the last few months are no
longer being played as frequently on the radio?

Asking for France's help ... in 2004 no less when they
still haven'paid us that 21 billion and change that
they owe us? Ain't dat sumptin'? I am truly speechless.
