20180: Hess: Re: 20166: (Chamberlain) New Haiti PM aims to disarm, unite his nation (fwd)

From: DougRHess@aol.com

"Anne-Marie Issa, a member of the council that selected the prime
minister, quoted Latortue as saying he would include in his government the
two other finalists for the job, Herard Abraham, a former Haitian army
general, and Smarck Michel, a former prime minister who served with
Aristide in 1995."

Jeez. Sounds like a Dream Team from the center-right and far-right. What kind
of support will this government have from sectors that are too the left of
this (probably the majority of active non-elites), even if they are pro or con
on Aristide?

Also, is Latortue a US citizen? More generally: How does citizenship work
with government service in Haiti? Does a person have to give up US citizenship to
serve? Do you have to give up Haitian citizenship when you become a US
citizen?

Thanks.
