20496: Mason Re 20494 (Arthur) Haiti's interim government - 17 March - Haiti Support Gr (fwd)
From: MariLinc@aol.com
The Haiti Support Group wrote:
"... we note that three existing ministries - Environment, Haitians Living
Abroad, and Culture - have been downgraded to secretaries of state, and we are
concerned that this means these three areas will not be accorded the
importance, or budgetary support, that they require."
I would add that it would also appear that Secretary of State for Literacy
was one of the slots axed.
Is this a precursor to a downgrading of emphasis upon Creole literacy
programs?
A "getting even" with Aristide, such as the gutting of the Tabarre Medical
School, because of the involvement of Cubans as instructors / animators?
I would not put it past the current Government to reverse the Bernard Law to
further confound Creole literacy and the empowerment of the masses by negating
the past 20+ years of progress in publication and instruction in Creole.
Welcome to the "good old days" Haiti!
Veye yo!
