So Michael Madsen would like us to believe him, when he states things
such as "our opinion as Haitians is"? Who is Madsen and does he
rightfully make a claim to speak for Haitians? Michael Madsen owns
the Brasserie Nationale d'Haïti, brewers of Prestige and is from
one of the wealthiest families, of Danish decent, in Haiti. His
family also owns the trading company Madsen and the Huilerie
Nationale SA. They also represent the Danish consulate in Haiti.
According to Réseau Solidarité, he "practises selective dismissals
[at his brewery]" ensuring "that no employee works in the factory for
more than three months, and thus avoids having to pay compulsory
benefits.". He had also Haitian police come into his factories to
terrorize the workers according to Batay Ouvriye. Haiti Support Group
has documented beatings of his employees in order to circumvent
paying the Haitian minimum wage. It seems Michael Madsen is the one
who should reconsider his abominable behavior! He certainly hasn't
even a fraction of Prime Minister PJ Patterson's integrity. To bad
the "opposition", or to be more precise: the economic elite in Haiti
finally have a government of their liking. The path was a little
rocky since the Haitian population knows that historically the
bourgeoisie has only suppressed them, and couldn't be goaded into
voting for their candidates. Now the African Union, Jamaica and
Venezuela are on the record of not recognizing the newly installed
government that has no legitimacy in the eyes of the Haitian masses.
Yes, Mr. Madsen that isn't nice, politics is supposed to be a lot
smoother, at least it just to be in Haiti for the likes of you.
