The Senator from the South, Victor Magloire is killed in an accident

Port-au-Prince, March 29, 2004 -(AHP)- Victor Magloire, Senator from
the South department, was killed Sunday evening in a traffic accident
in the vicinity of Grand-Goâve.

Two other people were very seriously injured in this accident, the
circumstances of which have not yet been elucidated.

The disappearance of the member of Parliament, who was still
fulfilling the duties of his office, comes at a time when supporters
of the ex-opposition are waging a campaign to dissolve the
legislative body.

According to a source close to Fanmi Lavalas who asked to remain
anonymous for security reasons, the accident that cost the life of
Professor Victor Magloire is said to have been provoked.

The same source contends that the disappearance of Senator Magloire
is part of the witch hunt launched by partisans of the interim
government.

Victor Magloire was elected Senator from the South in the elections
of May 21st, 2000.

Through Monday afternoon, it has been difficult to contact the
serving President of the Senate, Yvon Feuillé, regarding this
incident.
