writers don't control the headlines or captions, interviewees don't
control the writers, i remember an article covering an event
in Haiti ('93), where the bylined writer who was based in Haiti wasn't at
the situation, the article was written in Puerto Rico, and i and bryant
freeman, and a BBC radio journalist who were there were referred to as
british diplomats..
after reading the article i wondered if in fact i was there

the press can be sloppy, there are oversights or just take liberties
