VODOU DRUM AND DANCE GROUP PRESENTS RISING SUN: DAY OF THE DEAD ON
NOVEMBER 13 IN BROOKLYN
La Troupe Makandal, New York's center for Afro-Haitian drum and dance,
presents Part One (Day of the Dead) of its fifth annual Rising Sun: A

celebrates Gede (pronounced Gay-day), the eternal figure in black, the

Gede meets the beautiful and arrogant Arachne. Enticed by Gede to a
midnight party in the cemetery, Arachne experiences a powerful
life-and-death transformation.
