An Emergency Rally in Support of the People of Haiti. What a silly and
pretentious notion!
A rally to protest Gerard Jean-Juste’s continued detention – like Veye Yo
is doing in Miami – sure, why not.
A rally to denounce the “killer” Latortue, or to demonstrate one’s great
“Pan-African” comradeship with Messrs. Aristide, Mbeki and the
contemptuous Pahad -- by all means, if it makes you feel good.
There are still knuckleheads out there (Latortue among them) who can’t
tell a gangster from a freedom fighter, and for whom any black man with a
gun is a modern-day Chaka Zulu fighting “the Man.” But you have to be
very cynical, or misinformed, or politically retarded, to pretend that
the armed gangs terrorizing the people in Cite Soleil and Bel-Air are
some kind of vanguard army of the people!
The truth about Aristide and Lavalas will come out sooner or later.
(“You can fool some people some time, but you cannot fool all the people
all the time.”) Until then, a few wannabe revolutionaries, who think
that they know more than they do, will continue their little charades “in
support of the people of Haiti.” With friends like these, and their good
intentions, Haiti is sure to continue its descent into hell....
On a related topic: any family connection between Wilfrid Lavaud, husband
of the saintly Lavalas grandmother, Annette “So Ann” Auguste, still in
jail, and Arnoux Lavaud, the Haitian expatriate who showed up recently in
Port-au-Prince with $800,000 hidden in his suitcases? The lout claimed
he actually stole the suitcases in Montreal, but rumor has it this was
actually payroll money for the “vanguard forces” mentioned above. Why is
the Haitian police having so much difficulty to get to the bottom of
this?
