This is pure conjecture but any cutoff of drugs coming in to the US from
Haiti could be made up by going through Mexico or DR. Just read a wire story
a few days back about escalating gang violence in Cancun because of the
increased amount of drugs going that way since Haiti supposedly isn't so
hospitable anymore. Before Aristide's departure Haiti was the way station
for about 10 to 15% of the drugs that made it to the US. I haven't heard
what that the stats are now but Haiti is still poor and many are probably
willing.
