It is most telling that Father Gerard Jean-Juste went to the funeral of
Jacques Roche to express his open remorse.
May no one suffer at the hand of the state. May no one's human rights be
violated;
I would relish an opportunity to ask the priest what did his political party
do to establish a machinery for the administration of justice in Haiti for
the 10 years plus it was in power?
Did it implement a court case management system for Haiti, for instance.
Considering the high number of detainees, did it conduct felony trials
(assises)
more than twice a year and for more that one week at a time? Why were
juveniles/minors, as young as six-year old, (based upon physical appearance,
since
the children had no birth certificates nor knew their own age with any
accuracy) routinely detained, without any trial, longer than their legal
sentences
would have been, were they actually convicted? Has any convict sentenced to
travaux forces a perpetuite, during the Lavalas regimes, actually performed
any travaux forces? (Playing domino in the prison yard at Rue Du Centre, does
not count). Did it establish and impose the rule of law? Was "etablir
l'autorite de l'etat" simply another slogan?
No one wants to take care of, or cares about justice in Haiti until .........
No one seems to know the cost of it either.
