Jean Metellus in " Haiti Une Nation Pathetique" gives us the following info
about Hasco (Haytian American Sugar Company: located in Chancerelles, Hasco
was built in 1915 by the Americans. Since then it output 50,000 tons of
processed sugar/year until 1970 where the production start falling. after
1970, it had around 3200 employees. I know that the Mevs family were major
shareholders in the 90's. I am sure somebody can bring more light to this.
