The best study of the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area is "Les Problemes
Envrionnementaux de la Region Metropolitaine de Port-au-Prince publie en 1999
par
La commission pour la Commeration du 250e anniversaire de la fondation de
Port-au-Prince with the financial and technical assistance of UNDP (of which I
was
a Chief Technical Advisor).  I beieve it can be obtained at PNUD in P-au-P.
It has maps, statisitic, descriptions and analysis.
