Murder charge for priest dropped
PORT-AU-PRINCE · A judge in Haiti has dropped a murder charge against a jailed
Roman Catholic priest, but indicted him for illegal weapons possession and
criminal conspiracy, the cleric's lawyer said Friday.
The Rev. Gerard Jean-Juste, a supporter of ousted President Jean-Bertrand
Aristide, has been in prison since July in connection with the murder of the
prominent Haitian journalist and poet Jacques Roche.
Lawyer Mario Joseph denies the allegations.
