In the same way that Haiti needs to address the future of so-called
<alternative> energy and recycling, it's important to understand the  desperate
need
for irrigation projects for the small farmers throughout the  country. Projects

to convert sugar cane to ethanol which President elect Preval  already
supports, are tremendous, but we have to look at increasing capacity to  grow
crops
and that will have to depend on more efficient irrigation systems in  La
Pleine, Central Plateau and to the North. Isolated villages may need pumps in
which case small solar energy projects may be the future instead of laying
miles

and miles of cable for <old school> electrical projects. It is time for  Haiti
to grab the bull of opportunity by the horns.
