28272: Walsh (announce) Upcoming Spokenword at Weslyan University - April 26th (fwd)

From: Amber Walsh <Amber.Haiti@snet.net>

"Because When God is Too Busy:
Haiti, Me, & the World"

"Because When God is Too Busy: Haiti, Me, & the World" is an alter(ed)
native ethno-performance of spokenword that explores issues of racism,
classism and sexism through anti-Haitianism.  It exposes what it means to
confront and speak truth to power and, in a black feminist tradition,
achieve peace through spirituality and revolutionary self-definition. This
work ultimately demands of the audience that we all interrogate our
complicity in the brutality of anti-Haitianism.  -Gina Athena Ulysse
"Because When God is Too Busy: Haiti, Me, & the World," a spoken-word
performance with Gina Athena Ulysse, Assistant Professor of Anthropology and
African-American Studies at Wesleyan University, takes place at 7PM, April
26 in Memorial Chapel. All are invited, reception will follow.
