28976: kathleen (comment) Marc Binard (fwd)
From: Kathleen <kathleenmb@adelphia.net>
Like Marc, I quail at the hypocrisy of the savaging that occurred on this
list regarding Jorgen Leth, and the "go girl" "insightful director" attitude
reproduced on the list regarding "Going South."
I do not know Jorgen well, but two of my most highly regarded men
friends do.
He was innocent of the charges leveled against him by those who do not read
Danish. So they couldn't read the retractions either.
Anyone who has read "The White Man in the Mango Tree" by Mark Kurlansky
recognizes Jorgen and the Oloffson in the opening short story. He really
loved her.
P.C. is going to kill us. Rejoicing that women can be the same kind of
jerks that some men are? Gimme a break. Exposing the political problems
(but shooting in the D.R.!!!) of the Duvalier era helps enlighten those who
see the film to understand
murderous climate in Haiti now how, exactly?
By the way, no white woman under eighty needs to pay for sex in Haiti.
Good for Jacqui for refusing up front to lead any such tours, should she
have applicants.
