Hi!!! I have more info on black beaches in another area, but I have stayed
in Ii Goave in 99 on way to Cayes, no beaching.
The hotel stay was hilarious.  I was traveling with three guys - my Haitian
host and driver, and his German-American friend.  I told Gerd that if
Bazelais put me in with him, I was going to make a scene, having had an
equally hilarious but somewhat sleepless experience in France where the
suspicious hotelier (she "knew "what Parisiens do, with 3 guys and 1 woman,
she thought) put me with the American, whom I hardly knew and was so nervous
about what he might do  (no chance) that I got very little sleep.  Finally,
Bazelais having turned down the hotel across the street because it was 200HD
a night ($40) we took one room at 35HD a night, I got a bed by myself, Gerd
got the boxspring, and the two Haitians shared the double (with whispered
warnings to each other). I slept well.  I always wanted to go back to stay
in the Emperor's hotel, with a bathtub in every room, as Tequila has, but no
luck so far.
