Haitian  sculptors of the Port-au-Prince “Grand Rue” group  make a
triumphant African Diaspora re-entrance to one of the main port cities of
the infamous slave trade. Marking  the 200th anniversary of the British
abolition of slavery, is the Christian Aid Society’s major exhibition of the
works of Eugène, Céleur and Guyodo. To see details:

It would be wonderful if this show could also travel to Canada, US and
Haiti.  Mario Benjamin, an internationally recognized Haitian artist is
collaborating with this group. Perhaps a show on this side of the Atlantic
could happen. Those who may wish to know more about the Grand Rue artists
can find excellent photos and text in the catalogue of the Florida
International University’s Frost Museum exhibition, Esprit Endependans.
