30873: Bell: Death of Gerard Barthelemy (fwd)
From: madison bell <mbell@goucher.edu>
Gerard Barthelemy died on August 2nd in the midst of his family at his home
in Verberie, France. A diplomat, anthropologist, carpenter and writer,
Barthelemy was well known, admired and loved by Haitians and many of those
who travel there. A Frenchman by birth, he was pleased and amused to be
cited (by happy accident from time to time) as one of the most important
Haitian authors. His works include Le Pays en Dehors and Dans La Splendeur
d'un Apres -Midi d'Histoire. His was a spirit too quick and lively for any
bottle to contain. To quote from a post from Adrien Bance: Que la terre
lui soit legere!
