Topics Include: The Changing Role of Women Writers, The Importance of
Literary Prizes, Publishing Houses, Translations, Issues of race and
ethnicity.  Particular emphasis will be placed on the
similarities/differences among Caribbean women writers in languages other
than Spanish and Latina writers in the United States. 

Roundtable Participants Include: Josefina Báez, Mylene Fernández, Lisa
Fiol-Matta, Mayra Santos Febres, Sherezada (Chiqui) Vicioso. 

Moderators: Daisy Cocco De Filippis and Sonia Rivera-Valdés.

Roundtable sponsored by the Caribbean Exchange Program/The Center for
Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College/CUNY.

This program is organized by the Black and Hispanic Studies Department of
Baruch College.  Collaborators include: The Modern Languages Department;
Anthropology and Sociology Studies Departments at Baruch College; The
Caribbean Exchange Program/The Center for Puerto Rican  Studies at Hunter
College (CENTRO)/CUNY; and The Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora
Institute.  This program is also made possible by the generous support of
the Office of President Lirtzman; Dr. Samuel Johnson, Vice President of
Student Affairs; Baruch College Fund.
