#2897: Medical mission in the bateyes (fwd)
Batey Relief Alliance (BRA) is sponsoring a medical relief mission in batey
Payabo of Monte Plata from June 9th through June 18th, 2000 in the Dominican
Republic. Free medical assistance and preventive health education will be
provided to the impoverished population, including the Haitian migrant
workers and families, in the areas of general medicines, pediatrics,
optometry and dental. BRA will also donate vitamin, medicine and eyecare
products, condoms and sunglasses to complete patients' short-term treatment.
BRA hopes to build in the near future a Medical Care and Learning Center in
Monte Plata to provide long-term and follow-up care. For support and
information, please contact Ulrick Gaillard in New York at (917) 627-5026 or
in the Dominican Republic at (809) 383-1547.
