Organization of American States – Haiti Electoral
Observation Mission
Press Release – 4 April
Informal Translation

The OAS Electoral Observation Mission views with
concern the controversy surrounding the circumstances
of the death in Grande Rivière du Nord on 29 March of
OPL campaign coordinator Ferdinand Dorvil. The Mission
is worried by a sudden death of this nature in the
midst of an electoral campaign, and calls on the
authorities to swiftly carry out a serious enquiry
including an autopsy.

The Mission is deeply disturbed by the climate of
violence that has swept the country in the last few
days. The OAS EOM urges political parties to continue
their electoral campaigns peacefully with respect for
the rights of all concerned.

The OAS EOM expresses its condolences to the family of
Ferdinand Dorvil as well as to his colleagues in the
Organisation of Struggling People.
