#3508: Dorce/Gill exchange continued by Gill

From:drgill@cdinter.net

i realize that rebuttals are always required, so here goes:

the financial system of Haiti is dependent on outside banks, in that part of
the banking system within the country is owned externally......and, the
simple fact of such investments is the main reason Haiti receives foreign
aid in the first place.....no one assumes that such aid is given for
altruistic reasons......

this type of arrangement is certainly not uncommon, whether in banking or
manufacturing or industry......look at the Japanese plants in the US, for
example......now, this IS a part of globalization......

and, if Mr. Aristide thinks he can avoid such, then Haiti will most
assuredly remain in the 18th century in terms of its economy and growth
potential......simply because Haiti does not have nor has ever had the
internal means to compete in the open market......it was and is too poor and
all the public rethoric by Mr. Aristide or anyone else wont change these
simple facts.......

his talk suggests a further isolation of Haiti from the rest of the
world.......this is archaic thinking and will certainly not push Haiti into
the 21st century.........

you must remember who he thinks his audiance is.......
