#4497: Haiti Progrès reporting: Chamberlain adds (fwd)

From: Greg Chamberlain <GregChamberlain@compuserve.com>

Electoral council chief Léon Manus' speech from exile is in fact mentioned
in the French and Creole pages of Haiti Progrès (in contrast to the English
section, where it isn't mentioned at all).

However, there is still no sign of its most striking element -- Manus'
charge he was pressured and threatened _"by the highest level of
government"_ to get him to publish what he had come to consider were
"illegitimate and inaccurate" results.

It's not hard to imagine the same "highest level of government" bringing
the same pressure to bear on the council to issue (and on Manus to sign)
its June 3 statement (brandished by Haiti Progrès) reproaching the OAS for
pointing out the inaccurate counting giving Aristide immediate and
overwhelming control of the senate.
