7708: Please support! (fwd)
From: bateyrelief@mindspring.com
Dear Friend,
Your help is urgently needed on behalf of the immigrant population living in
the United States. Hard working immigrant families are at risk of being
seperated. Under the current immigrantion law, persons applying for their
legal residency and who had entered the country illegally must go back to
their home country, sometimes for 8-10 years, until the legalization process
is finalized and accepted by the Immigration Naturalization Service (INS).

Legislation which would extend 245(i) for a year, until April 30, 2002 has
been prepared by Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) and Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA).
But it still needs more Republican support in order to pass. Please contact
the following Senators and urge them to co-sponsor this crucial legislation.
