"One of the newest art forms to emerge is metal drum sculpture inspired by the rich mythology of Vodou. In a small dusty town ten miles north-east of the capital, Port-au-Prince, over a dozen different artists are turning old metal oil drums into unique and striking relief sculptures." - Charles Arthur

These unique metal sculptures, sometimes constructed from recycled oil drums, represent figures, deities, animals and plants.

Serge Jolimeau was born in 1952 in Croix des Bouquets. He began his artistic career in 1972 working with the Louisjuste brothers. He joined the Centre d'Art in 1973 on the advice of Pierre Monosiet. Born to a family of farmers, voodoo and folklore played a significant role in his upbringing. The complexity and richness of this culture are most evident in his artwork, most of which are devoted to Voodoo subjects.
